Not many people know this as it is not well publicised but there is a big government department that exist to investigate compaints about recruitment agencies. It is called the Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate (EAS) and it is now part of the UK government’s Department for Business Innovation & Skills (BIS) or what used to be known as the DTI. The EAS do nothing but inspect employment agencies. It has a website at http://www.berr.gov.uk/whatwedo/employment/employment-agencies/about-the-eas/index.html which is very difficult to find. This new website Recruiter Standards has been created to help job seekers find the who, where and how to of complaints about recruitment and employment agencies. All in the recruitment industry and the general public want to see higher standards in how we are all helped to find our next job. Those with complaints however trivial they might seem, need to complain to raise standards. Contact the EAS today if you have a complaint!
